       Friction Welding

Compact Range

Machine Features

This series of equipment has become an industry standard. This is our base model machine. Since its original conception 25 years ago, the machinery has undergone many changes, especially with regard to control and application of advanced technology. This range is suitable for a wide variety of applications with a historical pedigree. As the lame suggests, one of the compact's features is the minimal floor area that is used with electrical cabinets mounted above the machine.

  • Rugged hydraulic spindle with clutch/brake
  • Diametrically opposed hydraulic cylinders
  • 100% in process weld quality check by measurement of loss of length
  • Hydraulic pressure stabilised against change in temperature
  • Component clamping via hydraulically operated self centring chuck and collets
  • LCD screen and keypad for display and settings of parameters
  • Diagnostics of machine functions
  • Storage of up to 50 sets of weld parameters
  • Control via high level PLC processor
  • Fully automated process cycle
  • Flash removal via clipping
  • Integral hydraulic power pack
  • Electrical cabinets mounted above the machinery

Compact Friction Welding Range

The core of the machine is a rugged hydraulic spindle and clutch brake system mounted between two diametrically opposed hydraulic cylinders that also act as linear guides. This design contains all the forces of the weld process within the integral area. Adjustable backstops are provided for both components. Flash removal on this range is performed by the Gatwick compression clipping system (where possible). An in-line die is drawn across the hot welded joint removing excess flash to within 5% of component diameter. An sample within this range is the Compact 25 (pictured).
