Three of the stations are exposed at the front of
the machine to allow components to be loaded and unloaded by manual
operatives.
The machine has been designed with expansion in mind
and currently there are three automatic workstations around the table.
The first is a pneumatic press which stakes four tags holding the
control unit to the element assembly. The second is a welding unit
to weld the neutral extended fixed tab to one of the element tails.
The third is also a welding unit with a pick and place system to place
and weld the single male tab to the second element tail. With the
pick and place turned off, the third workstation can be used to weld
a second extended fixed tab (component dependant).
The process is controlled via a P.L.C. with a single
welding controller that runs with three independent programmes for
the three weld conditions. The controller has the ability to store
and use more programmes as desired.
The machine can be operated in automatic or manual
mode using a footswitch and has four access doors for machine adjustment.
Electrical switched flaps are fitted on the entry and exit apertures
of the guard where the indexing table with fixtures passes through.
If either of these flaps are moved during the table index the table
is brought to an immediate halt.
