| Robotic Upsetting Cell for Engine Valve Manufacturers | ||||

Based around 32KVA electrical Upsetting Machinery fully-integrated into a forge press via a six axis robotic arm. FPE Ltd (Gatwick®) designed and manufactured the complete system including overall control while also being responsible for the input of material into the upsetter hoppers and placing the finished forged valve into an output basket. The automated cell is guaranteed not to cause a backlog of parts waiting entry into the press. The upsetting machines operate on their own individual cycle and the cell dynamically adjusts to accommodate differences in cycle time between machines. Maintenance and tooling change for the upsetters is performed from the outside of the cell and thus the cell continues production while adjustments take place. The components are heat sensed prior to the press ensuring successful operation. |

An example of floor-standing equipment where the operator loads two separate fans into fixtures, which are then presented to either end of a spindle assembly for simultaneous projection welding. In this application there is a secondary current path to ensure weld consistency of both fans. |
